Perhaps it was the low key approach we all seemed to take. Minimal celebrations at New Year and Australia Day, combined with hot weather keeping us all hiding indoors.
Celebrating is good for people. That “feeling good” effect that comes from celebrating is contagious. It’s an opportunity for activity, conversation, laughter and excitement. Parties can mean games and singing and even dancing. People eat more when they’re celebrating together, and they perceive less pain.
Even if you are not the party type, having a good laugh helps
with your physical and mental health. Laughter opens airways, lowers blood pressure and relaxes tight muscles. And who isn't guilty of watching funny pet videos on social channels and having a good laugh to cheer ourselves up?
